Madhuban Paintings

Madhuban Painting is a very ancient kinda painting that is started at the era of Ramayan. Village girls used to draw the paintings on the plastered mud wall of the huts. This kinda painting is also called as Mithila Painting. Here, painting is done through various colors without any space. Colors are prepared from various plants and other things like- yellow color- turmeric, red color- kumkum, green color- tulsi, white color- rice powder, orange color- mixture of rice powder and kumkum, cowdung and even mud is used for painting.

Madhuban paintings, usually depicts religious motifs that includes Radha-Krishna, Rama, Laxmi, Saraswati, Durga, etc; nature like fish, parrot, elephant, sun, moon, bamboo trees, lotus are also painted.

Now-a-days, madhuban paintings are also made on paper, cloth, and on canvas. These paintings are used as wall hanging to decorate wall. It gives natural look to the wall and home.
